MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - BOSTON—The Red Sox today placed first baseman Sean Casey on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip strain.

To replace Casey on the active roster, outfielder-first baseman Brandon Moss has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket of the International League.

The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Theo Epstein.

ADVERTISEMENT Casey sustained the injury while running the bases in the third inning of Friday night’s game with Tampa Bay. He is batting .346 with eight RBI in 17 games.

Moss has a .268 average with one homer and 12 RBI in 22 games as Pawtucket’s regular first baseman.
