Dayton Dragons Assign Daniel Perales to DL, Brandon Menchaca Added from Extended ST - Midwest League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Dayton , Ohio —The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:

Outfielder Daniel Perales (per-ALL-es) has been assigned to Dayton after beginning the season on the disabled list.

Outfielder Brandon Menchaca has been sent from Dayton to extended spring training.

Perales was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 7th in exchange for pitcher Jon Coutlangus. Perales has been in the Cincinnati Reds extended spring training camp in Sarasota, Florida while rehabilitating an injury.

Perales was one of the Midwest League’s top hitters in 2007 with South Bend. He hit .282 with 16 home runs and 82 runs batted in. He led the league in base hits, extra base hits, and total bases while finishing second in runs batted in and third in runs scored and triples. Perales played college baseball at the University of Southern California and was a 22nd round draft pick by the Diamondbacks in 2006.

Menchaca was batting .132 with no home runs and three runs batted in with the Dragons this season. He had played in 18 of the club’s 33 games.

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.
