Oakland Athletics Promote Pitcher Travis Banwart from Kane County Cougars to Stockton Ports
MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – GENEVA, IL – The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Oakland Athletics, have announced that pitcher Travis Banwart has been promoted to High-A Stockton. Despite a hard-luck record of 2-3, Banwart posted a 2.38 ERA in seven starts this season. Banwart was a fourth round pick in the 2007 draft and made his professional debut on July 4, 2007 as the young right hander pitched three innings while recording a save in the Cougars’ 3-1 win.
Banwart joins a talented Stockton pitching staff that includes several notable Cougars from the ’07 squad including Trevor Cahill, Jason Fernandez and James Heuser, among others.
The Cougars lock horns with the Cedar Rapids Kernels tonight to conclude a four-game series at Elfstrom Stadium. Kane County is currently 1.5 games behind Clinton for first place in the Midwest League’s Western Division, and has won seven of their last 10 games. Jamie Richmond (3-2, 3.75) takes the bump for the Cougars and faces Michael Davitt (1-2, 7.85) with game time set for 6 p.m.
