Lance Cormier of AAA Norfolk Tides Selected by Baltimore Orioles
MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Baltimore - The Orioles today announced that they have placed RHP RANDOR BIERD on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 30, with a right shoulder impingement and selected the contract of RHP LANCE CORMIER from AAA Norfolk.
Cormier, 27, is 1-1 with a 0.96 ERA (18.2IP, 2ER) with 12 strikeouts in nine appearances for the Tides. He is 14-18 with a 5.98 ERA (244.0IP, 162ER) in 123 games over parts of four major league seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves.
Bierd is 0-1 with a 2.03 ERA (13.1IP, 3ER) in nine games for the Orioles this season.
The addition of Cormier gives the Orioles 39 players on their 40-man roster.
The Orioles also announced that INF FREDDIE BYNUM will begin a rehab assignment at AA Bowie tonight. Bynum underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee in March. The Baysox host a three-game series against the Akron Aeros this weekend.
