Akron Aeros Send LHP Shawn Nottingham to Kinston Indians, Add RHP Jim Deters

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - AKRON - The Akron Aeros made a roster move today, transferring LHP Shawn Nottingham to Class A Kinston and receiving RHP Jim Deters from the K-Tribe.

Nottingham began the year strongly in his first season as a reliever, but faltered of late. He went 0-1 with a 3.55 ERA in six appearances in April, but since then had allowed 21 runs (all earned) and 25 hits in 20.1 IP over his last 13 outings. The native of nearby Canton, OH was acquired by the Indians along with Shin-Soo Choo from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Ben Broussard on July 26th, 2005.

Deters was 4-2 with one save and a 3.12 ERA in 20 appearances (three starts) for Kinston this year and on June 5th at Wilmington tossed the first nine-inning shutout for the Indians since Keith Ramsey threw a perfect game on the last day of the 2004 season. The 25-year-old native of Portage, MI led Kinston with 12 wins last season and ranked first in the Carolina League with a 2.24 ERA. He also appeared in one game at Class AAA Buffalo.
