Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 10:14AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - BOSTON, MA--The Boston Red Sox today recalled righthanded pitcher Clay Buchholz from Triple-A Pawtucket of the International League. Buchholz will start tonight’s game versus Baltimore at Fenway Park.
Buchholz takes the roster spot of 1B-OF Jeff Bailey, who was optioned to Pawtucket after Wednesday’s game.
The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Theo Epstein.
Buchholz was 4-2, 2.47 in 9 starts with the PawSox. He started the season in the Red Sox rotation and was 2-3, 5.53 in 8 starts before going on the 15-day disabled list on May 13 with a broken nail on his right middle finger. Buchholz was sent to Pawtucket on rehab assignment on May 25 and was optioned to the PawSox on May 31.
Buchholz is 5-4, 4.15 (30 ER/65.0 IP) in 12 games/11 starts in his major league career.
