1B Brandon Allen has been received from A-Advanced Winston-Salem. A 5th-Round draft pick out of high school in 2004, Allen was named the starting first baseman for the Carolina League's midseason All-Star Game. He was hitting .279 with 15 HR and 44 RBI in 89 games with the Warthogs. He was second in the league in HR and extra-base hits (45), and was fourth in doubles (26) and slugging percentage (.527). Entering the season, he was named by Baseball America as the Best Power Hitter in the White Sox organization. Birmingham INF Victor Mercedes has been placed on the temporarily inactive list to deal with family issues.

INF Javier Colina has been transferred to AAA Charlotte. He hit .216 with 3 HR and 14 RBI in 27 games with Birmingham after being received from A-Advanced Winston-Salem in mid-June.
