Buffalo Bisons Activate Jorge Velandia to Replace Disabled Chris De La Cruz

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – The Buffalo Bisons today announced that they have activated INF Jorge Velandia to their roster. Velandia was outrighted by the Cleveland Indians today and is scheduled to start for the Herd in this evening’s game against the Richmond Braves at Dunn Tire Park (7:35 p.m.).

To make roster room, INF Chris De La Cruz was placed on the disabled list.

Velandia was signed by the Indians as a minor league free agent on May 26 and appeared in 16 games for the Bisons (.235, 16-68, 2B, 2RBI). He had his contract purchased by the Tribe on June 12 and played in five games with Cleveland (.375, 3-8, 2B, R, BB).

Velandia spent the first part of 2008 with Syracuse where he hit .287 (27-94) with 3HR and 12RBI in 28 games and later appeared in 2 games with the Toronto Blue Jays in May (0-7).

De La Cruz has hit .156 (7-45) with four RBI in 19 games with the Bisons.
