OF Coby Smith Sent to Salt Lake Bees by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim After Activation of Kendry Morales

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – SALT LAKE CITY (July 19, 2008) – The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has activated infielder Kendry Morales from the disabled list and reassigned outfielder Coby Smith to Double-A Arkansas.


Morales, 24, was placed on the disabled list on June 8 with a right oblique strain. He has appeared in 45 games for the Bees in 2008, hitting .324 with 10 doubles, eight home runs and 37 RBI. He has appeared in one game for the Angels this season. Originally signed by the Angels in 2004, the Cuban native hit .294 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 43 games for the Angels in 2007.

 

Smith, 27, has appeared in 42 games for the Bees in 2008, hitting .195 with three doubles and eight RBI. He hit .304 with five doubles, one home run and six RBI in 30 games for the Travelers this season. The Dothan, Ala. native signed with the Angels as a free agent in January 2007.
