Buffalo Bisons Promote Brendan Donnelly From Single-A Kinston

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -
The Buffalo Bisons today announced that RHP Brendan Donnelly has been promoted to the team from Single-A Kinston. The reliever was on the 2002 Anaheim Angeles team that won the World Series.

To make room on the roster, RHP J.D. Martin was transferred to Double-A Akron.

Donnelly, 36, burst onto the Major League seen in 2002 with the Angeles. He went 1-1 with a 2.17ERA in 46 games before making five appearances in Anaheim’s World Series Championship over the San Francisco Giants (7.2IP, 1H, 0R, 4BB, 6K). In 2003, he went 2-2 with a 1.58ERA in 63 games with the Angles, earning a selection as an American League All-Star.

Last season, Donnelly went 2-1 with a 3.05ERA in 27 relief appearances for the Boston Red Sox (20.1IP, 19H, 7ER, 5BB, 15K). He was placed on the disabled list on June 11 with a strained right forearm and underwent ligament reconstruction in his right pitching elbow (Tommy John Surgery) on August 14.

Donnelly owns a career Major League record of 25-9 with 4 saves and a 2.88ERA in 303 relief appearances (315.2IP, 258H, 101ER, 110BB, 310K). He began his professional pitching career in 1992 in the White Sox organization and later spent time in five different minor league organizations (Cubs, Reds, Rays, Blue Jays, Pirates).

 Martin was 1-0 with a 1.80ERA in four games and one start with the Bisons (10.0IP, 6H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 8K).
