Adam Eaton Accepts Optional Assignment with Lakewood Blue Claws - A, South Atlantic League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Adam Eaton accepted an optional assignment to the Phillies' Minor League system on Monday and tonight he will make his first appearance in the minors as a member of the Lakewood BlueClaws.

He is scheduled to start against the West Virginia Power (Brewers) with first pitch at 7:05p.m. Another member of the Phillies, the Phillie Phanatic, is also scheduled to make an appearance.

Tickets are available by calling 732-901-7000 or at www.BlueClaws.com.span class="full-image-float-right">

Eaton, 31, was 4-8 with a 5.80 ERA in 21 games (19 starts) for the Phillies this season. His last two appearances came in relief.

Tonight will mark Eaton's first appearance in the South Atlantic League since Aug. 25, 1997, his first year in pro baseball, when he pitched for the Piedmont Phillies. He was 5-6 with a 4.16 ERA in 14 starts that season.

This will be his 90th career appearance in the minor leagues. He is 30-26 with a 3.65 ERA all-time in the minors, which includes rehab starts in 2002, 2005 and 2007.

Originally drafted in the first round (11th overall) by the Phillies in 1996, Eaton made it as high as Triple-A Scanton/Wilkes-Barre before being traded to the San Diego Padres on Nov. 10, 1999. He made his MLB debut and earned his first win with the Padres on May 30, 2000 against Milwaukee.

Eaton was traded to Texas in 2006 and signed as a free agent with the Phillies following the season.

Lakewood enters play tonight just two games behind their opponent, West Virginia, for first place in the standings.
