This was Sweeney’s second season with the Bears, having helped the team win the Atlantic League championship last year. This season he was 1-5 with a 6.22 ERA. Kent started the season with the Long Island Ducks and joine
d the Bears in mid-June. He collected five saves during his tenure with the Bears.
“While it is difficult to part ways with Matt and Steve, we are excited to bring Manny to Newark,” said Assistant General Manager of Baseball Operations Jim Cerny. “This is a classic example of a trade that is going to help both teams down the stretch.”
