IDAHO FALLS - Just in time for the Chukars’ game August 1st in Orem, Utah a new player arrived to help add depth behind the plate. Catcher Brandon Fowler is the first position player to be assigned to the Idaho Falls Chukars since Carlo Testa at the beginning of July.Fowler was drafted out of high school in 2007. The 45th round draft pick did not play professionally last summer, as he didn’t sign his contract until close to the deadline in August. This summer he saw limited action with the Surprise Royals before being called up to Idaho Falls. At the plate in Surprise, Fowler was 2-for-6 in only five games played.
The newest Chukars’ player is from San Diego, California, where he attended Westview High School. The right-handed Fowler is listed at 6’0” and 185 pounds.
With Fowler the Chukars now have three designated catcher, plus Tito Espinosa, who has caught in two games this summer for Idaho Falls.
