Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Placess RHP Giancarlo Alvarado on the Disabled List

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – SALT LAKE CITY (August 4, 2008) – The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has placed right-handed pitcher Giancarlo Alvarado on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain and promoted right-handed pitcher Anthony Ortega to Triple-A Salt Lake from Double-A Arkansas. 

Alvarado, 30, has appeared in 22 games for the Bees in 2008, owning a 6-4 record and 3.94 ERA with 113 strike outs. The Santurce, Puerto Rico native signed with the Angels in 2008.

Ortega, 22, has appeared in 22 games for the Travelers in 2008, owning a 9-7 record with a 3.73 ERA with 83 strike outs. The Ocumare Del Tuy, Venezuela native signed with the Angels as a nondrafted free agent in 2003. His first appearance with Salt Lake will be his Triple-A debut.
