Detroit Tigers Outright Michael Hollimon to AAA Toledo Mud Hens

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has outrighted the contract of infielder Michael Hollimon to Triple A Toledo.  Catcher Matt Treanor and outfielder Marcus Thames are both being removed from the roster and will be become free agents upon notification to the club.  Additionally, the club has purchased the contract of righthanded pitcher Jay Sborz from Toledo and reinstated both righthanded pitcher Joel Zumaya and infielder Jeff Larish from the 60-day disabled list.  Hollimon and Treanor were both reinstated from the 60-day disabled list by the Tigers prior to having their contracts assigned off the club’s roster.

Hollimon saw action in 29 games with Double A Erie this past season, hitting .212 (22x104) with three home runs and 21 RBI before he underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder on July 15.  The Tigers recalled Hollimon from Erie on September 1 and placed him on the 60-day disabled list.

Thames hit .252 (65x258) with 13 home runs and 36 RBI in 87 games with the Tigers in 2009.  Since joining the Tigers in 2004, he batted .245 (358x1463) with 99 home runs and 255 RBI in 485 games with the club.
