Potomac Nationals Infielders Leonard Davis and Bill Rhinehart Moved Up to Double-A Harrisburg Senators - Carolina League
MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - WOODBRIDGE, Va.— The Potomac Nationals announced today that infielders
Leonard Davis and Bill Rhinehart are headed to Double-A Harrisburg.
Additionally, the P-Nats have received infielder Andrew Lefave from the
Senators, and infielder Dan Lyons and outfielder Aaron Seuss from Low-A
Hagerstown.
Davis has been one of the top performers in the Carolina League this
season. Even though he only played in ten games in April due to a wrist
injury he suffered in Spring Training, the 24-year-old ranks third in the
league in batting average (.335), second in home runs (14), fifth in
on-base percentage (.406) and first in slugging percentage (.610). In the
month of June alone, Davis is batting .413 with six home runs and 16 RBI.
The former 8th-round pick in 2004 was named a South Atlantic League
All-Star in 2007 after hitting .290 with 16 home runs and 56 RBI before
earning a late season promotion to Potomac.
Rhinehart has continued to shine after being selected in the 11th round of
the 2007 draft out of the University of Arizona. After top prospect Chris
Marrero was placed on the disabled list with a broken foot, the California
native was promoted to Potomac from Low-A Hagerstown on June 20 and
promptly homered in his first Carolina League at-bat. In only seven games
with the P-Nats, Rhinehart hit .320 with a pair of home runs and four runs
driven in. While with the Suns, the 23-year-old was named a South Atlantic
League All-Star after hitting .295 with nine home runs and a league-best
56 RBI and garnered “Star of Stars” honors after going 3-for-3 in the
contest with a homer and three RBI.
To replace Rhinehart, the Potomac Nationals receive infielder/outfielder
Andrew Lefave from Harrisburg. After being acquired in a trade last season
with the Milwaukee Brewers for left-hander Ray King, the 24-year-old hit
.250 with one home run and 28 RBI in 67 games with the Senators this
season. Last season Lefave hit a league-best .345 with 17 home runs and 79
RBI with the Low-A West Virginia Power of the South Atlantic League.
Lyons was having a solid season with Hagerstown at the time of his
promotion batting .285 with five home runs and 38 RBI. The 23-year-old hit
.208 with no home runs and 21 RBI in 72 games with Short-Season Vermont
last year. Lynons was selected in the 14th-round last season out of the
University of Minnesota.
Seuss has also been a constant contributor in the Hagerstown line up
boasting a .304 average with 10 home runs and 49 RBI while playing in 71
games. The 23-year-old began last season with Short-Season Vermont after
being selected in the 27th-round of the 2007 draft out of California
Baptist and hit .293 with four home runs and 37 RBI in 69 contests.
