Edmonton Cracker-Cat Catcher Brian Munhall's Contract Purchased by Milwaukee Brewers

The Edmonton Cracker-Cats and Northern League announced that ‘Cats catcher Brian Munhall had his player contract purchased by the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers have already announced Munhall will immediately be assigned to their Triple-A affiliate Nashville Sounds (Pacific Coast League).

Munhall, a six-year minor league veteran, was traded mid-season by the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to the Cracker-Cats on June 30th with first baseman Clint Johnston in exchange for catcher Adam Shorsher.

The 6-0, 200-pounder, was originally signed by the San Francisco Giants as a non-drafted free agent out of Gonzaga University (Spokane, WA). Over five seasons in the Giants organization, Munhall carried a .270 career batting average and played as high as Triple-A in 2004 and 2005.

The sale of Munhall’s player contract to the Brewers marks the eighth of the season and 607th of the Northern League since 1993.
