MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - AUSTIN, Texas - January 24, 2007 - Loren Woods hit two free throws with 23.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter as the Toros outlasted the Colorado 14ers for a 101-98 victory on Wednesday afternoon at the Austin Convention Center.  Woods finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Toros, who improved to 7-3 in the month of January.

Austin led for the majority of the fourth quarter until Rick Rickert's layup with 4:13 remaining tied the game at 90-90. Mike Harris scored 14 points in the quarter to help bring the 14ers back from a nine-point deficit early in the final period.

Woods' fast break slam dunk with less than a second left in the game looked to seal the win for Austin but a technical foul was accessed on Austin's mascot for going onto the court with .04 seconds remaining. Von Wafer hit the free throw for Colorado to make the score 101-98 and giving the 14ers a chance to force overtime. Colorado had a chance to

tie the game at the buzzer but Rickert's 3-point attempt fell short of the basket.

Justin Bowen scored all 11 of his points in the fourth quarter on 5-of-5 shooting to provide the Toros with the offensive spark needed to put away the 14ers. BJ Elder scored a team-high 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting and grabbed four rebounds. James White, on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, had 17 points and four assists. Other Toros in double figures include Troy Bell (14) and Jamar Smith (10). Cheyene Gadson, who was acquired in a trade with the Tulsa 66ers on Monday, played 28 minutes and scored eight points.

Elton Brown scored a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds for the 14ers, who fell to 15-8 on the season. Antoine Hood (14) and Rick Rickert (11) helped provide Colorado with scoring off of the bench. Mike Harris finished with a double-double, collecting 15 rebounds.
