Idaho Stampede Victorious Over Anaheim Arsenal 118-99 - NBA D-League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - BOISE, Idaho (March 19, 2007) – Luke Jackson scored a game-high 29 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out six assists for the Idaho Stampede in a 118-99 win over the Anaheim Arsenal at Qwest Arena in Boise.

 

Idaho outscored Anaheim 75-46 in the second half, while shooting 65% from the field in the final two quarters.  The Stampede started the fourth quarter by going on a 9-0 run, topped by a Badou Gaye dunk to put Idaho ahead 88-76 with 9:08 remaining in the game.  Then with five minutes remaining, Idaho stretched their lead again by going on an 18-3 run to push the lead to 26 to seal the victory.

 

Led by Jackson, Idaho had five players in double figures, with forward Ricky Sanchez adding 26 points for the Stampede, shooting 8-for-11 from the field, including 6 of 9 from three-point range.  Guard Randy Livingston added a double double with 18 points and 11 assists, while guard Ronell Taylor pitched in 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the win.  Gaye scored 12 of his total 16 points in the fourth, while snagging a team-high nine rebounds for the game. 

 

The game was tight through mid-way into the second quarter, with each team trading baskets and small leads on the scoreboard.  Anaheim led by three points with 2:34 remaining in the first half, the Arsenal looked to take control of the game by going on a 9-0 run.  Anaheim’s biggest lead of the game came with 25 seconds remaining in the second quarter at 53-41, capped by four straight free throws made by Andre Owens and Steven Smith.

 

Idaho utilized a strong defensive third quarter to chip away at the Arsenal lead, holding Anaheim to 7-for-21 shooting from the field in the quarter.  Sanchez scored 10 of his total points in the period as Idaho shot a blistering 60% from the field in the quarter, and outscored Anaheim 34-21 in the third to take a three-point lead going into the final 12 minutes of play.

 

Anaheim had four players in double digit scoring, led by MaJik Dorsey’s 24 points.  Smith had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Arsenal, while Jawad Williams added 17 and Andre Owens contributed 13 points each.
