Fort Worth Flyers Defeat Anaheim Arsenal 120-115, Kevin Burleson Led With 25 Points - NBA D-League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Anaheim, Calif. (Mar. 20, 2007) – The Fort Worth Flyers ran out to a 13-point advantage after the first quarter and withstood a late Arsenal charge to win 120-115 at the Anaheim Convention Center Monday night.

Guard Kevin Burleson led six visiting players in double-figures with 25 points, while center Deji Akindele added 19 points and 15 rebounds.

“We have to play with a sense of urgency; we’re in a playoff race” said Arsenal interim head coach Reggie Geary. “We have to play from beginning to end and have to treat the first three quarters as if they’re the last.”

Arsenal forward Steven Smith again led the team in scoring with 27 points. Anaheim tallied four players with at least 20 points, including Jawad Williams, Majic Dorsey, and Andre Owens, but no one else had more than seven.

Fort Worth forward Ndudi Ebi, from Nigeria, put up 14 points in the second half to finish with 18 on the night, as the home side found themselves down 33-20 after 12 minutes and could not pull closer than 4 after that.

“I felt we played fairly hard,” said Forth Worth head coach Sidney Moncrief. “We didn’t play solid defense, giving up 29 points in the second and 40 in the fourth, but I was pleased with the way our guys kept on fighting.”

The Flyers shot 60-percent in the first quarter and went 45-of-85 for the contest (54-percent), while out-rebounding their opponents by five. Scoring 40 points in the fourth quarter for Anaheim was not enough as they gave up 34.
