Triple-Double From Brian Jackson Gives Arkansas RimRockers 119-110 Win Over the Austin Toros - NBA D-League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - March 20 – Brian Jackson gave the crowd at Alltel Arena something to cheer about on Tuesday night as he recorded his first triple-double in the Arkansas RimRockers victory over the Austin Toros 119-110. Jackson ended the night with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a triple-double before.” said Jackson. “I’ve had double-doubles, but it’s kind of hard for post players to get a lot of assists. I made some passes, and people made shots. That’s really all there is to it.”

Arkansas (13-31) never trailed throughout the game, leading by as many as 29 in the second quarter. Austin dropped their second road game in three days to send their record to 16-22.

Arkansas dominated the start of the game as they opened up a 22-2 lead midway through the first quarter. Clay Tucker scored 12 of his team high 26 points in the quarter as Arkansas nearly shot 60% from the field, while holding the Toros to only 26%. The quarter ended with a 41-14 RimRockers advantage.

“There’s no question that was the best quarter we’ve played this season. This is the second time [in a week] that we really played well as a team.” said RimRockers Head Coach Andy Stoglin. “We really played well offensively well in the first quarter, but just as awfully defensively in the second quarter. I knew they would make a run.”

Austin tried to claw their way back into the game chipping away at the lead in the second quarter outscoring Arkansas 40-28 behind 25 points from Cheyne Gadson and Troy Bell. Bell ended the night with a game high 30 points and 6 steals off the bench.

Arkansas held on to the victory as Austin used a late run in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to as little as 7 points with 2:14 remaining. Arkansas hit their next 6 free throws to take the victory.

The RimRockers were outscored in each of the final three quarters but were able to come away with the victory, behind Jackson’s career night. JR Pinnock and Matt Haryasz, who each came one rebound shy of a double-double, scored 14 and 12 respectively.

“That’s the most alert I’ve ever seen him. He was clicking and seeing everything, and he was where he should. He saw everything, every screen, everything he needed to. That’s the most important thing a player can do, be alert.” Stoglin said about Jackson .
