Tony Danridge Helps Fuel Albuqurque Thunderbirds To an 83-77 Win Over Los Angeles D-Fenders

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Nov. 25, 2009 – Tony Danridge scored 13 points to lead the Albuquerque Thunderbirds to an 83-77 victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Wednesday night in the team’s lone preseason exhibition contest of the year.

Antoine Agudio had 12 points for the T-Birds, while Carlos Powell and Kevin Pittsnogle each had 11.  The Thunderbirds led 41-39 at the half, and extended the lead to 70 to 53 at the end of the third quarter. 

Los Angeles closed the gap to two points late in the fourth, before the Thunderbirds were able to pull away and eventually win the game.  Chad Toppert helped put the D-Fenders away for good, nailing a three pointer with 29.3 seconds to go.

Deron Washington led all scorers with 16 points, 11 of which came in the fourth quarter.  Teammate Dar Tucker chipped in 15 for the D-Fenders.  Albuquerque shot 43.7 percent from the floor, holding Los Angeles to 39 percent for the game.

The T-Birds will open the 2009-10 season against the Bakersfield Jam on Friday, Nov. 27 at 7:00 p.m.  The team will then play its exhibition opponent, the Los Angeles D-Fenders, on Nov. 28 at 7:00 pm.
