Nick Fazekas Of The Dallas Mavericks Has Been Assigned To Toil With The Tulsa 66ers In The NBA D-League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – NEW YORK, Nov. 20, 2007 –The Dallas Mavericks announced today they assigned forward Nick Fazekas to the Tulsa 66ers, their NBA Development League Affiliate. Fazekas, the Mavericks’ second-round selection in the 2007 NBA Draft (34th overall) becomes the seventh player assigned to the D-League this season.

Fazekas saw action in two regular-season games with the Mavericks this season, scoring his first point as a professional on November 10 at Portland when he finished the game with two points and two rebounds.

“The D-League provides young players with an opportunity to use what they have learned. It is the most athletic league in the world outside of the NBA. To have a chance to go up against that level of competition will be an important part of Nick’s development,” said Donnie Nelson, Mavericks President of Basketball Operations and General Manager.

A four-year starter at Nevada, Fazekas finished his collegiate career averaging 18.1 points and 9.6 rebounds in 131. A 6-11 235-pound forward, Fazekas earned several post season accolades, including being named a consensus Second Team All-American and to the Wooden Award All-American Team during 2006-07, his senior season. As a junior he earned Third Team All-American honors from the Associated Press, and was named WAC Player of the Year. Additionally, he earned First Team All-WAC honors during his last three years at Nevada.

Fazekas will join the 66ers in Tulsa for their regular season opener on November 23 when they face off against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
