Sioux Falls Storm Re-sign Shannon Poppinga and Trice Crump - UIF

MLN Newswire-www.mlntherawfeed.com-Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) will bring back two veteran defensive backs. They have re-signed Shannon Poppinga and Trice Crump for the 2007 season. Both played significant roles in leading the Storm to the No. 1 ranked Scoring Defense and the No. 2 ranked Pass Defense in the UIF during the 2006 season. The Storm defense only allowed an average of 27.9 points per game last season.

Poppinga will be returning for his eighth season of indoor football, all of which have been played in Sioux Falls . The Augustana College ( Sioux Falls , SD ) alum has been an interception machine in his tenure with the Storm as he is the team’s leader in career interceptions with 31 and ranks second in UIF history with 16. Poppinga also ranks second in interception return yardage (256), second in passes defended (32), and is tied for first in interceptions returned for touchdowns (4) in UIF history. He tallied 34.5 tackles, seven interceptions, and one touchdown during the 2006 campaign.

Crump will be entering his fourth season with the Sioux Falls Storm. The 5’11 190 lb. defensive back out of Pittsburg State ( Pittsburg , Kansas ) finished third on the team in tackles with 79 and finished fourth on the team in interceptions with two. Crump recorded 62.5 tackles, 2 interceptions and 18 pass break-ups for the 2005 Championship Storm squad. Crump has held down a starting spot with the Storm for the past three seasons.
