Georgia Force (AFL) Sign Veteran QB Andy Kelly

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - FLOWERY BRANCH, GA – The Georgia Force today signed 14-year AFL veteran QB Andy Kelly. The team also signed WR Scott Cloman to the practice squad, waived QB Ben Dougherty and placed DB Marcus Jefferson on injured reserve.
 
Kelly, 6-3, 220 pounds, is a 14-year AFL veteran who ranks first in AFL history in completions (3,885), attempts (6,224) and passing yards (42,528). He also ranks third all-time in passing touchdowns (809). Last year, Kelly completed 264 of 396 passes for 2,580 yards and 42 touchdowns in 11 games for the New Orleans VooDoo. His most productive season in the AFL came in 2005 with the VooDoo, when he set career highs in completions (466), attempts (700), passing yards (4,657) and touchdowns (96). Kelly is a product of the University of Tennessee, where he finished his collegiate career with 6,397 passing yards with 36 touchdowns. He ranks second in Tennessee’s annals in both categories behind current Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning.
 
Cloman, 6-3, 215 pounds, brings two seasons of AFL experience with him to the Force as he was member of the Orlando Predators in 2006 and had a brief stint with the New York Dragons in 2001. He was originally signed by the Iowa Barnstormers in 2000, but was placed on the other league exempt list after being signed by the Kansas City

= Chiefs. Cloman also attended training camp with the San Francisco 49ers (2002) and the Washington Redskins (2002 & 2003). He attended Southern University, where he tallied 18 receptions for 301 yards and three touchdowns in his career.
 
Jefferson, 5-9, 185 pounds, was signed on March 13, 2008 and tallied two tackles vs. Los Angeles (3/15). Last week, Jefferson was inactive at Orlando (3/22) due to his injured finger.
 
Dougherty, 6-4, 215 pounds, saw action on special teams in each of Georgia’s four games this season. He collared three tackles on special teams in four games and was used as the holder on PATs and field goals vs. Dallas (3/1).
 
Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football action returns Saturday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD as the Tampa Bay Storm visit Philadelphia to take on the Soul.
