David Backes Recalled from Peoria Rivermen to St. Louis Blues - AHL
Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 04:46PM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Peoria, Ill. (January 25, 2007) – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that right wing David Backes has been recalled from the Peoria Rivermen, the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate.
Backes, 22, made his NHL debut on Dec. 19 at Pittsburgh, registering his first career point (assist) in the Blues’ 4-1 victory over the Penguins. The following game, he scored his first career goal on Dec. 21 vs. Los Angeles. Backes has played in 15 games with the Blues, registering five points (one goal, four assists) along with 12 penalty minutes.
The Minneapolis, Minnesota native has played in 27 games with the Rivermen, recording 11 points (nine goals, two assists) and 34 penalty minutes. Backes was originally drafted by the Blues as their second round selection, 62nd overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
