New York Rangers Recall D Daniel Girardi from Hartford Wolf Pack and Reassign D Darius Kasparaitis to Hartford - AHL
Friday, January 26, 2007 at 04:41PM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - New York, January 26, 2007 -- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Daniel Girardi has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) and defenseman Darius Kasparaitis has been reassigned to Hartford.
Girardi, 22, has skated in 45 games with Hartford (AHL) this season, registering two goals and 22 assists for 24 points, along with a plus-four rating and 16 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 200-pound defenseman currently leads the Wolf Pack in assists (22) and ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 24 points. Among all AHL defensemen, his 22 assists are tied for second and his 24 points are tied for seventh in the league. In addition, the 2005-06 AHL All-Rookie was voted a starter in the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic.
Kasparaitis, 34, has skated in 24 games with the Rangers this season, registering two goals and two assists, along with 30 penalty minutes. The 5-11, 215-pound defenseman also collected two assists in seven games with Hartford (AHL) after being assigned to the Wolf Pack for conditioning on October 31, 2006.
From today's practice, everyone on the Rangers roster participated other than Martin Straka (flu) and Brendan Shanahan (rest). Tomorrow’s practice is scheduled for 11:30 AM at the MSG Training Center. The Rangers return to action on Saturday, January 27, when they will face off against the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wachovia Center (1:00 PM).
