Ondrej Pavelec Reassigned to AHL Chicago Wolves From Atlanta Thrashers

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Chicago - The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned goaltender ONDREJ PAVELEC (AWN-dray Pah-vah-lec), to the Chicago Wolves.

PAVELEC has appeared in 11 outings with Atlanta this season, which includes backstopping the team’s 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at Philips Arena last night. He has registered a 3-6-0 record with a 3.55 goals-against average and .884 save percentage in National Hockey League action this season, and a 6-9-0 record, 3.38 goals-against average and .892 save percentage in 18 career NHL tilts (2007 to 2008).

Prior to being recalled by the Thrashers, the 21-year-old netminder started nine straight games for Chicago (5-3-1), posting a 1.54 goals-against average - which still ranks second in the American Hockey League - and a .947 save percentage, which holds first in the AHL. He held opponents to two or fewer goals in seven of those nine outings, which includes two shutouts, and was honored with the AHL’s Goaltender of the Month honors for October.

The Kladno, Czech Republic, native, helped Chicago capture the 2008 Calder Cup Championship last year during his professional debut, and led AHL rookies and ranked second in the league with 33 regular-season victories, the second-highest single-season total in franchise history. He recorded a 33-16-3 record with a 2.77 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 52 regular-season appearances with Chicago.

The Wolves face the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center tonight at 7 p.m., before returning home to host the Rockford IceHogs at the Allstate Arena on Sunday at 3 p.m.
