Former Seattle Thunderbirds Defenseman Benn Olson Signs with Albany River Rats
Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 12:25PM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Seattle, June 27, 2008 - Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced defenseman Benn Olson has signed with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.
"I am very excited to have signed with the River Rats," Olson said. "I am looking forward to starting my professional hockey career and can't wait for training camp to get hear."
In 71 games last season Olson tallied 12 points, all of them assists, and a plus/minus rating of plus-31. He spent a league high 266 minutes in the penalty box.
"We are very excited for Benn's opportunity," Farwell said. "He has been a valuable asset to the Thunderbirds over the past three seasons and we wish him the best in Albany."
Olson was acquired by the T-Birds at the beginning of the 2005-06 season, from the Kamloops Blazers. He played 195 games with the T-Birds and had 29 total points and a plus/minus rating of plus-46. Olson also added 10 points in 30 career playoff games.
