MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - It certainly didn't take Jarrod Skalde long to get his priorities in order as the new head coach of the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the International Hockey League. That became evident Tuesday when he announced that forward Jon Booras, the team's career leader in points, goals scored, assists and games played, had become his first signee and would return to the team for a third season. Skalde said he made it a priority to sign the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Booras immediately after becoming the PrairieThunder coach less than two weeks ago. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. "I know what Johnnie Booras brings to the table," said Skalde. "He's a blue-collar player, who competes every night and has a real passion for the game. We want guys like him in the organization. "He has an even bigger upside and we talked about him raising his expectations. We both have very high expectations for him. I expect him to be one of the top 10 players in the league in all aspects of his game." The 25-year-old Booras, whose uncle Andy Moog was a former NHL standout during his 17-year career, ranked third on the team in scoring during his first two seasons with the PrairieThunder. In his rookie season, the Billings, Mont., native scored 40 points in 73 games on 16 goals and 24 assists. Last year he raised his points total to 57 in 74 games on 29 goals and 28 assists. Booras had a team-leading six unassisted goals last year and was second in power play goals with 11 and power play assists with 13. He also scored four game-winning goals and was called up twice by Iowa of the AHL. During his two-year career with the PrairieThunder, Booras has played in 147 games to share the franchise record with Tim Schneider. He leads the club in career points (97), goals scored (45) and assists (52).
