MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired left wing Guillaume Latendresse(pronounced GEE-OHM, lah-TEHN-drehs) from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for center/left wingBenoit Pouliot (BEHN-wah, POO-lee-aht).
“Guillaume is a young, talented forward who has averaged 15 goals per season in each of his first three NHL seasons,” Fletcher said. “At just 22 years old, he will add size and a scoring punch to our roster.”
Latendresse, 22 (5/24/87), has recorded three points (2-1=3) and four penalty minutes (PIM) in 23 games for the Canadiens this season. In 2008-09, he had 26 points (14-12=26) while skating to a career-best plus-four rating. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound native of Sainte-Catherine, Quebec, posted a career-high 29 points (16-13=29) and 47 PIM in 2006-07, ranking 11th in the NHL among rookies. Latendresse has skated in 232 NHL games in four seasons with Montreal, totaling 85 points (48-37=85) and 137 PIM. He was Montreal’s second-round pick (No. 45 overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Pouliot, 23 (9/29/86), had four points (2-2=4) and 12 PIM in 14 games with the Wild this season, and has accrued 18 points (9-9=18) in 65 career NHL games. He was Minnesota’s first-round draft pick (No. 4 overall) in 2005.
