CHARLOTTE, N.C. – General manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers, Derek Wilkinson, announced today that the team has acquired the rights to forward Chris Capraro from the Trenton Devils (formerly Trenton Titans) in exchange for future considerations. Capraro has agreed to terms with Charlotte.
The Medford, Mass. native is a four year product of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Capraro played 127 collegiate games while amassing 28 goals, 67 assists for 95 points. In his final season with the Minutemen, Capraro lead the team in points with 35 (10 goals and 25 assists).
After the culmination of his college career, Capraro, 5-foot-8, 190-pounds, signed with Trenton during the final stretch of the 2006-07 season. During his brief stint, he scored a goal and an assist in two regular season games and appeared in five playoff games with one assist.
Wilkinson says that Capraro should have an excellent season, “He is a highly-skilled forward. We expect him to excel offensively.”
Capraro will attend this year’s Hartford Wolf Pack training camp of the American Hockey League.
