Vancouver Canucks Draft Pick Chad Brownlee Signs Deal With ECHL Idaho Steelheads
Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 12:40PM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads Hockey Club announced today that Vancouver Canucks draft pick Chad Brownlee has signed a one-year ECHL contract with the Club. Terms of the agreement are not being disclosed per Club policy.
Brownlee, 23, was a sixth round selection by the Canucks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-2, 200-pound defenseman played the past four seasons at Minnesota State University – Mankato.
The veteran defenseman completed his four-year collegiate career with 11 points (4g-7-a) and 201 penalty minutes in 135 games played. A team captain in his senior year after serving as an assistant captain in his junior year, Brownlee is a three-time WCHA All-Academic pick. He was the Maverick Achievement Award recipient as a MSU senior scholar-athlete and received the Don Brose Leadership Award. In 2006-07, the Kelowna, BC native was nominated for the Outstanding Male Student-Athlete Award as well as the College Hockey Humanitarian Award.
