MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers, the “AA” affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have come to terms with Jason Tejchma for the 2007-08 season.
The skilled center played four years at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell before turning pro and turning heads out west last season. Tejchma, 24, scored seven goals in only 16 games in the ECHL last March with the Fresno Falcons.
“I am both a goal scorer and a playmaker. I like to set players up as well as find the back of the net, said Tejchma. “I am not just a one-way player, either. I take care of my defensive zone too.”
The 5-10, 180-pound rookie served as the captain and led the UMass River Hawks in scoring with 21 points during his senior season and finished tied for the team lead with 10 goals. Tejchma made the Hockey East All-Rookie Team after netting nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 40 games as a freshman in 2004 and finished his collegiate career with 96 points (40g, 56a) in 148 games.
“We feel Jason will be a big contributor to our success this season. He possesses a high level of offensive ability and has a great attitude,” said Nailers President Jim Brooks.
A native of Muskegon, MI, Tejchma played his junior hockey with the Danville Wings.
