MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Selden, NY.  Miguel "Slim" Milliems scored 15 points to go along with 11 rebounds and 3 blocked shots to lead the Sound to a 90-87 victory over the Newark Express at Suffolk Community College on Youth Services Night in front of a season-high crowd.  It was the teams's first home game since Jan 6th after a long 2-4 road trip.  "Miguel gave us what we needed tonight," said Sound head coach Dytanya Mixson.  "With Shawn Simpson leaving, he can make up the difference.  Milliem, who returned to the team after a short stint in another league, ignited the crowd with a number of eye-popping plays, including two slams off alley-oop passes.

"Good coaching," Milliem said.  "Coach Mixson worked with me during the summer and just told me to go out and play my game."  The Sound led at the end of the half 42-40-.  Brian Woodward, who led the Sound with 18 points, came alive in the second half and was hustling on both ends of the court.  The 6'3" guard out of the U of Rhode Island also had 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.  At the end of three, the Sound led 64-59.

The Sound went up by 13 points when Newark head coach and co-owner Marsha Blount called time-out and her squad came  back rejuvenated - enough to make it an eight point game with 2:10 left - and they got as close as 3 at the end of the game.

Sound co-owner Darren Cioffi commented on the 750 fans that came out on Youth Services Night, "This was a great night. To have them out here, they (recipients of the 500 donated tickets to the Suffolk County Youth Services Bureau) had a good time. We're finally reaching out to Long Island."

Lou Medina, head of the Suffolk County Youth Services Bureau, was a guest of honor, as were the youngsters from the Deer Park Community Center's Rockets, who played a short game during halftime.
