Detroit Panthers Sitting Out 2010 PBL Season

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -BIRMINGHAM, MI – The Detroit Panthers will sit out the upcoming 2010 basketball season in the Premier Basketball League (PBL) and return for the 2011 season to concentrate on the finishing of the Panthers Community Center/Sports Complex.

The Panthers have been an integral part of the development of  a Community Center/Sports Complex in the Detroit area.

“This will be a huge resource for our organization,” stated General Manager and Head Coach C. Bill Jones.  “There is nothing more exciting for the Panthers than playing in the PBL however, this opportunity before us will really set the stage for the next ten years and beyond for our organization.  It will take the use of our entire front office these next six months to make this leap a reality. Having our own facility and executive offices on site, combined with a community center, will set us apart from many other minor league sports organizations.  The community support has been tremendous throughout this process. The PBL recognizes what this project will do for our organization and has granted us approval to sit out this season.”

“Our organization has been a part of this opportunity for the past two years, and we are now in the home stretch to completion and then the real work starts,” said Chairman Kevin A. Carter.  “We are part of a community center that will support youth athletics and serve senior citizens in the area.  Community support for this effort has been huge.  Our foundation (Detroit Panthers Foundation) will play a major role in the center along with other local sports charities.”
