Seattle Mountaineers Join ABA

Indianapolis, IN. - The American Basketball Association (ABA) today officially announced that the Seattle Mountaineers will begin play beginning in December.  "We are very delighted to finally announce Don Sim's entry into the league," stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO.  "He has been working tirelessly on putting together his organization, team and all of the details for many months and we have held up the announcement until he was 100% set to go. His will be an interesting team as he will be playing many games out of his division in Northern California, Hawaii, China and in Kentucky too."

The team is owned by Don Sims, who will serve as President and Head Coach.  He is a native of South Carolina and has extensive coaching experience including 10 years as a pro basketball coach in England, Portugal, New Zealand and the US.  He also led Southern Albert Institute of Technology in Calgary, Canada to a National Tournament runner-up finish and served as Head Coach of the Palmetto All-Stars in South Carolina, a group of ex-college players that toured throughout the country against Division 1 college teams.

"I am very proud and pleased to be a part of the ABA," stated Sims.  "The league is growing by leaps and bounds and the excitement of playing teams throughout the US and abroad is something my players and I are looking forward to.  One of my goals is to help secure overseas contracts and NBA contracts for players and this will give us great exposure. We're going to work hard to represent Seattle and the ABA well.
