RiverCity Rage Run by Faytteville Guard 72-70 in Atlantic Conference Championship - NIFL

MLN Newswire - St. Louis, July 24, 2006-July 22, marked the end of the 2006 season for the RiverCity Rage as they fell 72-70 in overtime to the Fayetteville Guard in the Atlantic Conference Championship.

RiverCity tied the game at 64 points with 22 seconds remaining in regulation after Quarterback Clay Groefsema rushed for one yard and also rushed in for the two point conversion. Fayetteville then got the ball to start overtime and picked up the score after Wilmont Perry rushed for three yards and also got the conversion making the score 72-64. The Rage then answered back on an eight yard touchdown by Sha-Ron Edwards, but fell short on the conversion. Edwards led the Rage with three rushing touchdowns on 11 carries for 68 yards. Terrell Washington led all players in the game with seven total tackles.

The RiverCity Rage would like to thank the sponsors, fans, media, and everyone else, for making 2006 such a great season.

"This franchise really could not have done what we did without the fans. The support they showed us this season was great," said Tye Elliott, Rage Team President. Elliott went on saying, "The sponsors, and media, also showed us this season that they appreciate this franchise being in Saint Louis, and we look forward to returning in 2007."
