MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - League CEO, Catherine Masters, wanted a small piece of exercise equipment and already had a stepper and a treadmill. After searching the net, she found the POWER VIBE. Then, as if the Universe was watching, that night on the national news, she saw a story about the benefits of "vibration therapy". The story talked about how many pro football teams were using "vibration therapy" and how it was helping the athletic and medical communities in all kinds of ways. So, she bought one and has been thrilled with it. After talking with the company about the machine, the distributor decided to take a small sponsorship with the league.

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL PLAYER EARNS SPOT IN THE ARNOLD CLASSIC
Sarah Sharpe, who plays defensive back, wide receiver and is a founding partner in the Treetown Spitfire, one of the 40 teams in the National Women's Football Association, has earned a spot in the Arnold Classic Sports Festival. Sharpe will compete in the first ever Amateur Figure competition on March 2, 2007, in Columbus, Ohio. The Arnold Classic, named after California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is the largest stage in body building and figure sports.
“The Arnold Sports Festival is founded on the competitive spirit of bodybuilding and has grown to become the top destination for fitness, figure, and bodybuilding athletes,” said Bob Lorimer, the amateur event CO-promoter with the Fitness Factory’s Mike Davies.
This two-day event will showcase the aspiring talents of top male and female competitors from across the United States vying for top amateur status in men’s and women’s bodybuilding, and women’s fitness and figure. Among the largest athletic events outside of the Olympics, the weekend activities will also feature sports like powerlifting, Karate, and gymnastics.
“Obviously I'm very happy for Sarah and proud of the effort she put into this accomplishment," says team majority partner, Val Sharpe. “What’s really cool is that she shares with her teammates and coaches the training methods and techniques that have suited her so well. The ladies have been quite receptive – and, after seeing Sarah, who can argue with the results?”
Sharpe earned her spot in the Arnold Classic by placing 4th in the Excalibur Figure Championships in Culver City, CA on December 2, 2006. She works ten to twelve hours a day as an Executive Mortgage Banker with Quicken Loans, manages to squeeze in a couple hours of training, and still keeps pace with her football responsibilities.

ICKEY WOODS SEEKS GENERAL MANAGER AND MEDIA DIRECTOR FOR WOMEN'S FOOTBALL TEAM
Former Cincinnati Bengal star, Ickey Woods has announced that he is seeking a General Manager for his women's football team, the Cincinnati Sizzle.
"We've got a great team of top athletes and feel confident that this will be one of our best seasons ever. However, it's been difficult for me to try to run the front office, bring in sponsors and coach the team. Therefore, I am looking for someone with sales experience and good management credentials to help us take our team to the next level," sates Woods. Woods is also looking for a Media Director. "We get a lot of media attention both locally and nationally and we need someone to help us not only with coordinating those areas but to help us write and distribute press releases about our team and its players and coaches," adds Woods. Interested individuals should call Woods at (513) 236-2886.
Woods, who is well known for his famous, Ickey shuffle, has been the owner of the team since it joined the league. "We love having Ickey as one of our owners and know that if he can bring in the right people to assist him, his team will be one of the best in the league on and off the field," states league VP, Debby Lening.
WOMEN'S FOOTBALL HUGE HIT
ON GOOGLE!
Whoever said women's tackle football wouldn't draw an audience hasn't been on the Google video site. Since the National Women's Football Association posted videos of it's teams in action, there have been more than 115,000 views!
"Obviously, people are really getting into watching our women play tackle football. To get that many views and downloads is simply phenomenal," states Debby Lening, VP NWFA. In addition to videos that spotlight individual players and teams, there are full games on the site. The entire Gender Bowl game was recently added to the site and it's getting quite a few downloads and views.
WOMEN'S FOOTBALL FORMS
AA DIVISION
The NWFA has announced the formation of an AA Division. This new double A division has been set up to help new expansion teams prepare to join the major NWFA league.
"We have found over the past seven years that it's helpful for new teams to have at least a year or two of experience before they play against our well established and more seasoned teams. We also feel this will help these new teams learn how to build programs and campaigns that will generate more fans in the stands and sponsors," states league CEO, Catherine Masters.
The newly established expansion teams will be placed geographically so that their travel cost will be minimized. "We are accepting applications now for expansion teams in many areas of the country and will announce new owners and teams shortly," states Debby Lening league Vice President.
The expansion double A teams will have the opportunity to move up the major league once they meet certain criteria. This criteria will include attendance, financial solvency and athletic ability.
Teams will pay a nominal fee to become a double A team and those fees will be applied to the overall NWFA major license fee when the team has met the criteria to move up.
The NWFA has been considering this new division for several years but felt the right formula was not in place until now. "This new division opens up the doors for our league to attract many new teams and give a lot more women athletes the chance to play tackle football. It will also help prevent blowout games since the new teams will have a chance to gather the experience before stepping up to play in the big league," Masters adds.
