Intense Football League Announces Players of the Week
Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 10:21AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - The Intense Football League Office announced on Wednesday the Week 4 Players of the Week. On the first full weekend of play, some outstanding performances were had but only 3 could be given this award.
The Offensive Player of the Week was awarded to Bo Bartik of the Fairbanks Grizzlies. Bartik led the Grizzlies to their first victory in franchise history over the Odessa Roughnecks, 22- 17. He passed for 150 yards on 13 of 30, completing 2 for TD’s. Bartik also rushed for 16 yards and scored a rushing TD. He accounted for all of the Grizzlies scores.
The Defensive Player of the Week honor goes to Linebacker Chris Glenn of the Frisco Thunder. Glenn had 7.5 tackles in this hard fought game that saw the Thunder go down to the CenTex Barracudas 54-50. Glenn also registered 3.5 sacks.
The Special Teams Player of the Week is Olan Coleman of the CenTex Barracudas. Coleman returned 6 kicks for 178 yards. Two of the returns went for Td’s, including the opening Kick Off of 53 yards and a 48 yards return for TD in the second quarter. The 2 touchdown returns tied an IFL record, held by 4 others.

ADVERTISEMENT This weekend in the IFL finds the Fairbanks Grizzlies (1-2) visiting the Frisco Thunder (3-1) 6pm CST on Saturday March 29. Also on Saturday, the San Angelo Stampede Express (0-3) make a trip to Belton Texas to play the CenTex Barracudas (1-0) at 7pm CST. The last matchup for Saturday finds the Katy Ruff Riders (1-1) in Lake Charles to battle the Louisiana Swashbucklers (1-0) at 7:05pm CST. The weekend concludes with the Odessa Roughnecks (0-1) hooking up with the Alaska Wild (1-2) in Anchorage at 6pm CST or 3pm AST.
