Tiger Jones of Georgia Force Named AFL Offensive Player of the Week

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – FLOWERY BRANCH, GAThe Arena Football League has announced that Georgia Force (6-5) rookie WR Tiger Jones has been named the AFL’s Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the New York Dragons last Sunday.

SeatSub Challenge 2008 Contest

Jones, 5-11, 184 pounds, was a main component in Georgia’s record setting performance and, 72-67, win over the Dragons. He tallied a franchise single-game high 224 receiving yards in addition to tying club highs in receptions (15) and receiving touchdowns (six) in the win. Jones’ 224 receiving yards surpassed the previous mark of 194 set by teammate WR Troy Bergeron, which he set last year against Austin (6/9/07), and also marked the most by any receiver in the AFL this season. His production helped the Force offense tally a franchise-high 432 total yards of offense and assisted in QB Chris Greisen throwing for a franchise and career-high 403 yards in the victory. Jones was signed on March 27 prior to Georgia’s Week 5 match-up against Utah. He has hauled in 58 catches for 799 yards and a team-high 23 touchdowns in seven games since joining the club. He currently ranks first in almost every receiving category amongst rookies despite only playing in seven games this season.
