AFL Name Dallas Desperados WR/DB Will Pettis as Ironman of the Week for the Third TIme

DALLAS, Texas – Dallas Desperados WR/DB Will Pettis earned his third Ironman of the Week honor of the season, as announced by AFL officials today for Week 13 of the AFL season, after helping Dallas (10-2) down the Orlando Predators, 67-41, allowing the franchise to claim its fourth 10-win season – and third consecutive season with 10-wins – in the team’s seven-year history. In the contest against the Predators, Pettis became the first player in AFL history to pass for a touchdown, rush for a touchdown, catch a touchdown and return an interception for a touchdown all in a single game.
 
The reigning 2007 AFL Ironman of the Year finished the game at Orlando with five receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown, two rushes for three yards and a touchdown and was one-of-one for a three-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Anthony Armstrong on his first career passing attempt on offense while also leading the Desperados defensively with five tackles, two pass breakups and returned an interception 42 yards for his first career touchdown.
 

 

 

SeatSub Challenge 2008 Contest For the season, Pettis leads the team offensively with 78 receptions for 874 yards (11.2 avg.) and 20 touchdowns while he is second on the team with seven rushes for 32 yards and four touchdowns. He has also returned 43 kickoffs for 741 yards (17.2 avg.) and has 16.5 tackles, two interceptions and four pass breakups on defense.
 
Pettis was also named Ironman of the Week for Week Three and Week Seven, respectively, of the 2008 AFL season.
 
The Desperados return to action at the Cleveland Gladiators in an Eastern Divisional matchup on Saturday, 31 at 6:00 p.m. (CDT) at the Quicken Loans Arena. The game will be available locally in the Dallas/Fort Worth area on Saturday night on tape delay on FSN Southwest at 11:00 p.m. (CDT).
