St. Louis Slam Defeat Chattanooga Locomotion 24-7 - NWFA

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – St. Louis - The St. Louis SLAM travelled to Chattanooga Saturday night to take on the undefeated Locomotion.  The SLAM punched in 3 of its 4 touchdowns in the second half to beat the Locomotion 24-7.  The SLAM defense swarmed the Locomotion backfield and stymied a Chattanooga offense that was averaging over 40 points per game by holding them to only 1 score on the night.

The first half was a defensive struggle, and the first quarter came to an end with the score tied at 0-0. Midway through the 2nd quarter SLAM tight end Chris Hampton got loose in the secondary and ran under quarterback Liz Lacy’s pass to put the SLAM on the scoreboard first.

A determined SLAM offensive unit hit the field in the second half.  After a long, hard fought drive, Pat Riggins rushed for the second touchdown of the night to give the SLAM a 12-0 edge. SLAM wide receiver Katie Ode ran under a fade from Lacy, raced towards the end zone, but was stopped on the one yard line.  Toya “Turtle” Brown punched the ball into the end zone on the next play.  The Locomotion countered with a touchdown of its own to close the gap and make the score 18-7. The SLAM offense responded with a drive that lasted over 7 minutes capped off by a pass from Lacy to Gail Graff who grabbed her 3rd touchdown pass of the season and pushed the score to 24-7.

The SLAM is off to a 3-0 start to the young season and has a bye this week.  The SLAM returns to action when it hosts the Kansas City Storm Saturday night, May 17th.  All SLAM home games have been moved to 5:00PM at CBC High School for the 2008 season.  For more statistics, schedule and game day information please visit the SLAM website at www.stlslam.com.
