A. J. Haglund of San Jose SaberCats Named AFL Kicker of the Year

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – San Jose - A. J. Haglund was named AFL Kicker of the Year. Haglund had his most impressive af2 campaign in 2006 when he was named New Balance Kicker of the Year. That year he led all kickers in scoring with 146 points, a total that ranks third all time for points by a kicker in a season. MLNGirlsFeb2008_Lisa.jpg

He also made 10 field goals, with five coming from 30 yards or longer. After missing a second quarter extra point in a Week 6 game against the Tulsa Talons on May 6, Haglund connected on 69 straight extra points. His streak lasted 10 weeks until a third quarter extra point was blocked in Week 16 against Arkansas. Haglund also had the best season for point after accuracy in af2 history, converting on 93.5 percent (116-124) of his point after attempts. The former Central Oklahoma Broncho also excelled on kickoffs, recording 23 touchbacks in 2006.
