Lincoln Saltdogs Defeat Pensacola Pelicans 6-2, RD Spiehs Earns Win - American Association
Monday, May 19, 2008 at 05:00PM Cesar Aranguren and Brandon Sing both homered, but it wouldn't be enough as the Pelicans dropped a 6-2 decision to the Lincoln Saltdogs in the final game of a 3 game series and the final game of a 6 game road trip.
Lincoln starting pitcher RD Spiehs had not given up hit in the game until Brandon Sing hit a solo homer off the left field foul pole with 2 outs in the top of the 4th to give the Pelicans a 1-0 lead.
Lincoln would come back with three runs of its own in the bottom half of the 5th. Luis Perez singled and then Corey Harrington reached on an error. They both scored on a double by Shawn McGill. McGill scored on a single by Jonny Kaplan. That made the score 3-1 Saltdogs.

The Pelicans would then get the tying run into scoring position with one out, but would leave him there, as reliever Vince Davis was able to get Scott Pittenger to ground out and then he struck out Sean Gamble.
The Saltdogs would expand their lead in the bottom of the 7th, as just like in the 5th inning Luis Perez led off with a single, Corey Harrington would reach on an error. Then after a sac bunt from Shawn McGill, Ben Tinius singled to make the score 5-2. Dustin Yount would later drive in his 15th run of the season, 14 of those coming against the Pelicans, to make the score 6-2.
RD Spiehs pitched 6 1/3 innings to pick up his first win of the season. Cory Walters pitched 6 innings giving up 3 runs, but he was tagged with the loss.
