The Lincoln Saltdogs managed to do what no other team has done this season when opposed by the St. Paul Saints. Behind great pitching and just enough offense, Lincoln sent St. Paul to its first shutout loss of the year. Saltdogs starting pitcher Jarrett Gardner allowed six hits and struck out five in 7 2/3 innings to improve to 3-2 on the year. Reliever Vince Davis recorded the last out of the eight and gave way to RD Spiehs, who tossed a perfect ninth to record his second save. Lincoln RF Matt Maloney led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored.

The Sioux Falls Canaries just keep on winning. This one was nothing different as they rode a solid outing from starting pitcher Travis Kane to yet another victory, stretching their North Division lead to four games over St. Paul. Kane allowed two unearned runs on four hits and struck out six to earn his fifth win of the season. Canaries 2B Josh Patton belted his sixth home run of the year and finished the contest 1-for-4. Sioux Falls C Paul Smyth led all hitters. He was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Fort Worth 9, Grand Prairie 1

The Fort Worth Cats clinched the first-half South Division title thanks to a solid win over Grand Prairie at home. Fort Worth starting pitcher Ryan Riddle allowed just one run on four hits and struck out a pair to notch the win. Riddle’s record is now 3-4 on the year. Cats SS Nilson Teilon led the way at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a solo home run.

The Wichita Wingnuts scored 12 runs in the sixth inning to turn what was a 4-0 lead into a blowout. Wichita CF Chris Colton was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and three RBI to lead all hitters. Wingnuts LF Blake Gailen also had a nice game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and five RBI. Each batter that came to the plate for the Wingnuts managed at least one hit while a total of six players recorded multi-hit games. All that offense made life easy for starting pitcher Leonard Landeros. Landeros allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings to improve to 4-2 on the year.
