Atlantic City Surf Shut Out Nashua Pride 2-0 - Can-Am League
Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 08:48AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Atlantic City, N.J., - The Atlantic City Surf shut out the Nashua Pride, 2-0, behind a complete game performance from starting pitcher J.C. Huguet, that lifted the Surf’s record to 15-15 on the season, while the Pride dropped to 14-15, in front of 946 fans at Bernie Robbins Stadium.
Huguet was brilliant, tossing his first complete game of the season, allowing just two infield hits, one walk and five strike outs, en route to his fourth victory (4-0) of the season.
Surf designated hitter Clyde Williams led the Atlantic City attack, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Catcher William Plaza and first baseman Eddie Kim also recorded RBI for the Surf.
Pride staring pitcher German Melendez suffered the loss (1-2), lasting six-plus innings, giving up five runs, on nine hits, one walk and three strike outs. Hudson, ADVERTISEMENT N.H., native Isaac Burkett made his professional debut with the Pride, pitching two shutout innings in relief, giving up a pair of hits and walks.
Nashua will face-off with the Surf in game two of the four game series on Tuesday night, at 7:05pm, when the Pride send ace Hideki Nagasaka (4-1) to the mound in search of his fifth win of the season.
