Long Island Ducks Lose to Camden Riversharks 7-6 - Atlantic League

Tyler Von Schell, in his first game against Long Island in a Camden uniform, continued his success against the Ducks with a 4-for-5 night at the plate. The designated hitter slugged two doubles, the latter of which plated two runs in the seventh inning to snap a 5-5 tie. The runs held up as the Sharks handed the Ducks their fifth straight loss. Camden had built up a 5-1 lead, but the Ducks rallied with four runs in the fourth to even the score. Jay Gibbons hit his first of two homers in the game, and Nook Logan delivered a two-run single to tie the game. Gibbons hit his second home run in the seventh to cut the Camden lead to one, but that’s as close as the Ducks would get.

Buddy Hernandez (2-2) worked three and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen to earn the win for Riversharks, allowing one run on just three hits. Randy Leek started for the Ducks and went six innings, giving up five runs and 11 hits. He did not factor in the decision. Vic Darensbourg (0-1) took the loss after being charged with both Camden runs in the seventh. Alec Zumwalt converted his 13th save of the year, tying him for the league lead.
