Brian Forystek Makes Debut in Gary SouthShore RailCats' 6-3 Win Over Kansas City T-Bones

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -  GARY, Ind. – The Kansas City T-Bones couldn’t keep pace with the Gary SouthShore RailCats tonight, falling 6-3 the day after sweeping Gary in a doubleheader last night at U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Ind. Gary picked up just their second win in nine contests against the T-Bones this season.

Brian Forystek made his debut for the RailCats, joining Gary prior to the contest in a trade with the Joliet JackHammers for a player to be named. The veteran left-hander retired the first seven batters he faced before surrendering a double to John Martin in the third inning. Martin later scored the first T-Bones run of the contest on a two-out single by Geoff McCallum.

Forystek left after four innings, allowing one run on three hits in a no-decision.

T-Bones hurler Anthony Snow retired four batters in-a-row after allowing a leadoff single to Eric McNamee to begin the RailCats first. Snow then surrendered three straight hits in the second inning, including an RBI double to Mike Rohde and run-scoring single to Brett Wallace as Gary took a 2-0 lead.

After Kansas City’s third inning run, Gary responded with a three-run fourth, the first coming on a home run by Cristian Guerrero before a two-run double from Rob Marconi capped off the frame. An RBI single by Tanner Townsend drove in the RailCats sixth run of the contest in the fifth to give them a 6-1 advantage.

Snow left after five and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits as he fell to 2-3 on the season.

The T-Bones pulled within four with an RBI double by Craig Hurba in the sixth. Kansas City picked up their final run of the contest on an RBI single from Aharon Eggleston that scored Rob Watson in the eighth to put the score at 6-3. The run was unearned off Jonathan Lewis as Watson reach on an error by Townsend to begin the frame.

Lewis picked up his first win of the season after allowing one unearned run on two hits in one and one-thirds innings.

Payton Tweddale finished the game for the T-Bones, allowing just one hit over two and one-thirds scoreless frames. Neb Brown came to the plate to face Koichi Misawa as the tying run with one out in the ninth, but a sliding catch by Guerrero in right-center field kept the tying run from reaching base.

Misawa walked two in the ninth, but kept the T-Bones scoreless as he picked up his first save of the season.

The two teams face off again tomorrow as Kansas City goes for the series win in a four-game set. The T-Bones will send a pitcher to be determined out to face Jeremy Plexico of Gary. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00.
