Gateway Grizzlies Cruise to 11-1 Thrashing of Midwest Sliders

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Sauget, Il - The Gateway Grizzlies scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning Saturday night, then sailed to an 11-1 win over the visiting Midwest Sliders.  The win came in front of 4,570 at GCS Ballpark.
 
Michael Campbell paced a 14-hit attack by the Grizzlies (26-24).  Campbell finished 4-5 with a two-run home run.  Charlie Lisk finished 3-3 with a three-run home run, his team-leading 14th of the season.  He also leads the team with 40 RBIs.
 
Stephen Holdren added his 11th home run of the year in the fourth inning.  He was 2-4 with the homer and two RBIs.  John Alonso hit his third long ball, capping off the first inning.  He was 1-3 with the homer and two RBIs.  Chris Pecora was 1-4 with two RBIs.
 
Brandon Williams (5-2) made his return from the injured list and pitched five innings to earn the win.  Williams allowed just three hits.  He struck out five.  Williams hadn’t pitched in a game since June 23.
 
Demetri White added three innings in relief.  White allowed a single unearned run.  He struck out eight hitters, setting a new franchise record for strikeouts by a reliever in a single game.
 
Miguel Magrass had the only RBI of the night for the Sliders (15-24).
 
The Grizzlies and Sliders conclude the series with the finale Sunday afternoon at GCS Ballpark.  Game time is 3:05 p.m.
